Do not worry

“… do not worry …”, Matthew 6:34

Praise JESUS

Some time back, I was meditating on the subject of “Do not worry”. I was going through some tough time and may be this is the message for me, but I thought of sharing this message since worrying is a universal problem.

Worry is – to torment oneself with or suffer from disturbing thoughts; it takes away the peace and torments us day and night. It also steals the physical strength - though outwardly we were seen strong and eating good food.

Now Let us see what the Holy Bible and our LORD JESUS CHRIST says about worrying.

Our LORD JESUS CHRIST said, “… do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”, Matthew 6:34 (NIV). I could imaging so much of trouble we, humanity faces each day, if the Creator Himself says, “…Each day has enough trouble of its own”, Matthew 6:34 (NIV). That’s why we are provided with the Grace of GOD every morning, to face the troubles of that day, “It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness”, Lamentations 3:22-23.

We see the worry of Martha in Luke 10:40 (NIV), “But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” and our LORD JESUS CHRIST told her, “Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her”, Luke 10:41-42 (NIV)

Our LORD JESUS CHRIST asked, “Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?Matthew 6:27.

One guy said, “Who said there is no benefit of worrying, do you know most of the thing which I worry didn’t come to pass?”, He was thinking like things didn’t come to pass because he worried, but he should have thought in other way like “I worried all these days for the things which will never come to pass”.

We will see two of the consequences of worrying

First, it brings sickness. The Holy Bible tells us in Proverbs 12:25, “An anxious heart weighs a man down”. The people who are worrying are suffered with Blood pressure and heart conditions.

The devil constantly keeps the people in `worry and worry mixed with fear` and steals the joy of the life. As the meaning of worry describes, the devil torments the humanity with this weapon.

Constant “worry” and “worry mixed with fear” may further leads to depression. Many software professionals, who earns higher salary and leads higher standard of living fell into depression and goes to the psychiatrist for counseling, this is common in these last days.

The worry brings sickness to the body.

Second, it takes away the effectiveness of the Word of GOD. Our LORD JESUS CHRIST said in the Parable of Sower, “The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life's worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature” Luke 8:14 (NIV) .

The devil uses the weapon of worry to steal the effeteness of the Word of GOD. Instead of meditating on the Word of GOD day and night “But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night” Psalm 1:2, people started to meditate on problems day and night even with out sleeping which resulted in their decrease in their faith. I believe every common human being went through this path.

The worry brings sickness to the soul.

Now Let us see what we can do with this worry –

The Holy Bible says “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV). We can cast our worry on LORD JESUS CHRIST by making a supplication on what makes us worry. The Holy Bible tells us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”, Philippians 4:6-7

Let us make our requests known unto GOD and wait for His time. The Holy Bible tells us, “He has made everything beautiful in its time …” Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV)

As our LORD JESUS CHRIST said in Matthew 11:28, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”, let us go to our LORD JESUS CHRIST with the bundle of our worries and put it in his feet.

I will glorify the Name of the LORD

“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God” Psalm 20:7

Praise JESUS

Some time back, an evangelist called me to go with him to see a car, which he is about to buy. The person who was selling the car told us, if you go by the car, no cops will stop you (in India); because this car will give them an impression, a VIP is travelling in the car. The car was an expensive one.

The seller was boasting about the car.

I was thinking of buying a bike, and was checking through various options available in the market, and finally I decided to buy one bike and I started to boast about the best features of the bike even before I bought that bike. Still I didn’t buy the bike.

I was boasting about the bike even before I buy that.

The verse I have taken for today’s meditation is “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God” Psalm 20:7.

In Tamil language translation the word “trust” is translated as boasting. The same word is used for what is written in Galatians 6:14 and the word remember is translated to glorifying.

Now let us focus on what the Psalmist says here, he was saying he will glorify only the name of the LORD.

The parents of a child visualize (desires) how the child’s life should be and in that expectation, the parents call that name to the child. For GOD it is not like this. The Name of the LORD says the characteristics of GOD.

Some of the Names of the GOD are given in Isaiah 9:6, “… his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace”. These are the characteristics of the LORD.

The Holy Bible tells us in Proverbs 18:10, “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe”. I am encouraged by this that we have a refuge in the name of the LORD. Many times we panic what to do, where to go when storms struck us, but here the verse says, “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: … “

When we are in need we can trust in the Name of the LORD, “JEHOVAH JIREH” – The LORD himself our provider.

When we are in need of physical healing, we can trust in the Name of the LORD, “JEHOVAH RAFAH”, GOD our Healer. We have healing in the wounds of JESUS CHRIST. The Holy Bible tells us in Isaiah 53:5, “…with his stripes we are healed

We can go one saying about the names of the LORD. If GOD is willing, I will write a series of devotions on the Names of the LORD.

We also have salvation in the name of the LORD JESUS CHRIST , "But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through His name", John 20:31 also “…thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins”, Matthew 1:21.

And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved; …“, Joel 2:32 (NIV)

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”, Romans 10:13

So we have a refuge in the Name of the LORD JESUS CHRIST, our Savior.

Dear reader, if you have not made JESUS CHRIST as your LORD and Savior, will you pray this simple prayer and become a part of the Heavenly family of JESUS CHRIST.

Dear JESUS CHRIST, I believe you are the Son of GOD, came to this world to save my soul from my sin. I believe you died on the Cross for my sins and rose again on the third day. I accept You as my LORD and Savior. Forgive me and wash away all my sins with your Holy Blood and make me a partaker of heavenly family. Amen.

Does your prayers not answered?

"If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you", John 15:7

"If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it", John 14:14

Praise JESUS

In this edition of the devotion, we will meditate on how to pray so that our prayers will bring answers from our LORD JESUS CHRIST. The Holy Bible tells us that our GOD is prayer answering GOD, “O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come”, Psalm 65:2

First, the Holy Bible tells us, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:” Psalm 66:18. It is necessary for us that our sins must be forgiven before we present our supplication to the LORD. The Holy Bible tells us, “… the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin”, 1 John 1:7 also, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” 1 John 1:9

Second, Our Prayers should be Prayed in the Name of our LORD JESUS CHRIST. Our LORD JESUS CHRIST said in John 14:14, “If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it”. So let us address our Prayers in the Mighty NAME of our LORD JESUS CHRIST. Prayer which is not addressed in the Name of the Lord JESUS is like a letter posted without “TO” address which will never reach the destination.

Third, we should believe that whatsoever we ask, our LORD JESUS CHRIST
is able to do it. Our LORD JESUS CHRIST said in Matthew 21:22, “...whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive

Fourth, we should ask according to the will of the LORD. The Holy Bible tells us in 1 John 5:14, “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

And finally, we should not ask the things to full-fill our evil desires. The Holy Bible warns us in James 4:3 “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts

At times we feel, we have Prayed as above still we found we are not getting answers for our Prayers. Many times we may not get answers immediately and we may have to wait for the LORD's time for the answer that could take days, weeks, months, and even years. The Holy Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 3:1, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:”, also the Holy Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 3:11, “He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: …”

During those times when we didn't receive the answers immediately, we have to wait for HIS time.

I believe this devotion on prayer is a blessing for you.

May the LORD bless us with HIS Peace, Health and Joy.

The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace”, Psalm 29:11
